Betty Balthazor Death, Obituary – Betty Jane Balthazor, who was 99 years old when she died away, did so without any pain or suffering on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Woodlands Senior Park in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on November 25, 1923, to the late Buford Abbs and Elizabeth (Donaldson) Abbs. Her parents have now passed away. Her family made the journey to Fond du Lac when she was a little child. Betty received her diploma from Goodrich Senior High School and then went on to Moraine Park to pursue further study in the administrative field. She worked as a teller at the First Wisconsin Bank in Fond du Lac for a total of seven years. She tied the knot with Richard Balthazor at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in the month of June 1951.
They eventually got a divorce. After that, she found employment with the Fond du Lac School District, where she served first as the secretary to the superintendent and later as an assistant librarian at Goodrich Senior High School, Woodworth Junior High School, and Sabish Junior High School. In addition to that, she worked in the processing section of the district library. Betty had a deep appreciation for life, especially for her family. Her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were all the objects of her adoration. She especially enjoyed getting together with her family for celebrations such as birthdays, holidays, and weddings. Her favorite hobbies included flower gardening, pruning shrubs, growing indoor plants, going shopping with her daughter, reading, collecting family photographs, walking, and riding a bike when she was younger.
Other favorite activities included walking and collecting family photographs. After she retired, she became a cheery caregiver for her mother at home, and she did so until her mother passed away at the age of 99. The last nine years of Betty’s life were spent in the Woodlands Senior Park where she was a resident. She developed close relationships with a number of individuals as well as staff members. She cherished the opportunity to be in charge of distributing birthday cards to the elderly on a monthly basis. Other things that she enjoyed doing included tending to her vegetable garden, playing Bingo, and watching Wheel of Fortune. Betty was always kind, caring, gentle, and generous toward others who were in need of assistance. She persisted despite the various obstacles that life presented her with, maintaining an optimistic and solution-focused attitude throughout.
Betty had been attending the Pilgrim United Church of Christ for a very long time. Her daughter Deborah Ann (James) Pelky of West Bend, Wisconsin, is one of the people who survived her. She had three grandchildren: Michael Fryda, who is married to Laura Safarik and lives in Omaha, Nebraska; Jason Fryda, who lives in Superior, Colorado; and Elaina Howard, who is married to Edward Howard and lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Also fortunate to have great-grandchildren such as Sullivan, Oliver, and Annabelle Fryda, as well as Everett and Ellis Howard.
In addition, her niece Tammy (Gary) Steier of Chilton and their children Arianna of Whitewater, Jacob of Milwaukee, and Matthew, as well as her sister-in-law Alice Abbs of Elgin, Illinois, and her nephews Don (Kim) Abbs, Mike (Debbie), and Steve (Carrie) Abbs and their children, all of Illinois, are among those who are still living. Betty’s parents, Buford and Elizabeth (Donaldson) Abbs, as well as her brother, Donald Abbs, her sister, Audrey Zoellner, and brother-in-law, Donald Zoellner, all passed away before she did.
