Bill Groom Obituary, Death – Residents of Greenland, Arkansas were thrown into a state of mourning after the news struck that former mayor, Bill Groom, had died. Following his passing, The new mayor of Greenland city issued a statement read as thus: ” People who make their homes in Greenland and the regions that border us on all sides are referred to as our neighbors. As your new Mayor, I am sad to inform you that our town has experienced the loss of a longtime leader who was also a good friend. He served this city for many years. My very first post on the page for our city is this one right here.
Bill Groom, the former mayor of our town, passed away suddenly just a few short weeks after he had left office. His passing was unexpected. Bill made the decision to retire from his positions as mayor of our city, where he had served for a total of fourteen years, and on the city council, where he had served for a total of two years, because he wanted to spend more time with his wife and family. In addition to being an ardent supporter of the Greenland Band, Mayor Groom formerly held a position on the Greenland School Board. He not only gave his time but also a trailer to the members of the band so that it would be simpler for them to move their gear to and from the baseball games.
We will all, without a doubt, miss the institutional knowledge that Mayor Bill Groom possessed throughout City Hall, and his family may count on our thoughts and prayers as they go through this challenging time. I would want to take this opportunity to convey my appreciation to Bill’s family for enabling him to contribute a significant amount of his time and energy to the community over the course of such a long period of time. I also want them to be aware that the decisions they made led to a considerable improvement in the state of our city as a whole as a result of the measures they took.
