Charlene Alguire Obituary, Death – On the evening of January 3, 2019, at the age of 73, Charlene Alguire (Quail) died away at her home in a quiet and unexpected manner. It is with heaviness in our hearts that we share this news with our family and friends. She was the sister of Garrett Quail and the daughter of the late Charles and Janet (Bonner) Quail from St. Andrews. Her parents both passed away. She is survived by her devoted husband of half a century, Rick Alguire, as well as her three children: Stephen Alguire (daughter Sydney, who lives in Australia, and Sydney’s mother Sarah Atkinson, who was like a daughter in law), Stephanie Charbonneau (husband Stephane and children Isabella and Isaac), and Gregory Alguire. Her husband of half a century, Rick Alguire, is also a survivor (wife Melissa, nee Bolton). Her special sisters (rummoli partners) and brother in laws, Myrna Quail, Jennifer (Jay) Buhr, Anne Marie (Steve) Sanders, and Carrie (David) McLeod, will miss her terribly and love her very much forever and always.
She will also be forever cherished and remembered by many members of her extended family, including her brother-in-law David Alguire (wife Susan), sister-in-law Audrey Amell, brother-in-law Barry Alguire (his wife Kerry), as well as the many cousins that she adored, as well as her 23 nieces and nephews and her 36 grand-nieces and nephews on both the Quail and Alguire sides of the family who meant the world to her. The members of the Morning Glories band will remember her always and always hold a special place in their hearts for her. A family could not have asked for a more elegant, loving, or thoughtful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, or aunt than Charlene. She was also a wonderful person. During her formative years, she took great pride in calling St. Andrew’s home. She served as a teacher at the Adult Alternative School, Sacred Heart, St. Columban’s East, and Bishop Macdonell School, where she was devoted to her students and worked very hard. She was a woman of faith who helped others whenever she could by volunteering in our community and devoting countless hours to Blessed Sacrament parish in the form of organizing prayer groups, church suppers, driving people to and from mass, delivering communion, bringing people meals, and performing a variety of other acts of kindness.
Visitation will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral home is located at 822 Pitt Street in Cornwall, Ontario. In addition, from nine to ten in the morning on Monday, January 16th, 2023, followed by a mass that will be performed at Blessed Sacrament Parish, which is located at 321 Tollgate Rd.
