Dale Nicholson Missing Tasmania – Divers found the body of a man who had been missing for more than six years in a submerged car near a busy public pool. The man had been missing for more than six years. Dale Nicholson, 61, went missing from New Norfolk, north of Hobart, on December 10, 2016, after talking to a friend on the phone in the afternoon. His family reported him missing the next day, but even though Tasmania Police looked for him for a long time, they never found him. Downunder Divers, a group that specializes in solving cold cases, said on Monday via YouTube that they had found Mr. Nicholson and his car. The team found his Ford Falcon car submerged in the River Derwent next to a parking lot for the busy New Norfolk swimming pool.
Police said that the car and the body were found on Sunday night, but the body hasn’t been officially named yet. Officers had to take down some bollards that had been put up after Mr. Nicholson went missing in order to get the car back. Downunder Divers said in the YouTube Live video where they told the family about their find that they were happy to “bring closure to the family.” “It makes them feel better that we found him. Diver Bill McIntosh said, “They know where he is.” “It’s crazy that the family has been walking this path for so long. They’ve been down this path a thousand times. Everyone in town walks by this place, and you never know what might be there.
Mr. McIntosh said that the car was found stuck behind a big pine tree, which kept it from being washed down the river. He said, “The windows were open, and it was pretty clear that he had been sitting there for a long time, maybe even years, behind that big pine tree.” “It was what had been protecting it for the past few years. It kept the car safe from anything that came down the river.” A coroner’s report from 2021 said that “all available evidence” showed that Mr. Nicholson was dead, but it couldn’t say anything else.
