Domingo Medina Death, Obituary – My grandfather Domingo Medina, who had a long and productive life, passed away in the first few days of this year, but my goodness, he was a long-lived guy. His life was full of accomplishments and he lived a long time. At the time of his passing, he had 87 years under his belt as a human being. His life has undoubtedly been full to the brim with exciting experiences all the way through to the very end. His early years were spent in the countryside, and he hailed from a working-class family. Financially speaking, his family was not very well off. He learned the ropes of aeromechanics by serving as an apprentice for a family member who worked in the industry.
During this time, he received both knowledge and experience. After that, he worked for the military in the aviation industry, namely with airports and airplanes. After that, he worked in the aviation industry. Both of these domains were considered as part of his work obligations. His children made the most of this opportunity by purchasing plane tickets to New York City, where they paid a visit to family members who resided in the Heights neighborhood. (My name is Jewish since my mother started dating a Jewish girl when I was a little child, and this is how my name came to be) In the photograph that I have provided you with, he can be seen relaxing near the corner of 157th Street and Riverside Drive.
The fact that my mother moved to the same general location, albeit two blocks away from where she previously resided, provides the basis for the comedic aspect of this story. When I went for a walk around the neighborhood, I couldn’t help but reflect on my grandfather and the times that we spent there together in Riverside, which is only one avenue from where I live. Those days were some of the best days of my life. It is possible that somewhere in the galaxy one may observe the inner workings of some really peculiar mechanism. The remaining photographs are ones that I shot of him when I was visiting, and you can view them on this page.
I am overjoyed to have audio recordings of him that I can listen to, despite the fact that I was unable to pay my respects in person at his burial since the journey would have taken too much time and cost too much money. Because of how much I’m going to miss my grandfather, I ask that you show proper deference to the older members of your own family. – Helen Reflections on the life of Don Domingo Medina, Helen’s grandfather, who left this world only a few days ago. Between 1970 and 2000, these images were shot in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan.
