Dylan Penning Obituary, Cause of Death – CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Dylan Penning of Marengo, Iowa, has sadly passed away, the University of Iowa students are now in heart broken state for the lossĀ of one of their own. On Monday, January 9, 2023, Dylan J. Penning, who lived in Marengo and was 16 years old, died at his home. On January 14, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Anni Thorn will lead a funeral service at the Iowa Valley High School. There will be a burial at Mound Cemetery in Watkins. On January 13, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m., there will be a visitation at Iowa Valley High School. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to a tree that will be planted in Dylan’s honor in Gateway Park in the spring of 2023. The Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo is giving help to the family.
Dylan’s family includes his parents Brian and Jamie Penning, his brother Garrett Penning, his maternal grandparents Dennis and Mary McDonald and Donna Lohrer, his paternal grandparents Keith and Bettye Penning, his maternal grandparents Dennis and Mary Penning, his aunts and uncles James McDonald and Tara Cornelius, Monica and Terry Mooney and their children Elizaveta, Alaina, and Andrew, and Jeff and Erin Penning and their son Newton. His great-grandparents died before he did.
Dylan James Penning was born on December 5, 2006, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He is the son of Brian and Jamie McDonald Penning. He was in his second year at Iowa Valley High School in Marengo. Dylan was a competitive athlete who liked to play sports. He did this because it was fun for him. He played baseball, football, basketball, and track and field, among other sports. Dylan loved to play golf with his friends and Coach K in his free time. Dylan had a lot of friends who he liked to hang out with, play Xbox with, and go “cruising” with. He worked part-time at the Amana restaurant Ox Yoke. Dylan had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile that made everyone he met feel great.
