Edgar Castillo Death – Edgar Castillo, a 6-month member of IBEW 1245 from Elk Grove, was killed in a work vehicle accident at the age of 37 when he was working to assist the atmospheric river event. The news of his passing is being shared with a heavy heart as we are deeply saddened to make this announcement.
Castillo, a Foreman working for Mountain F. Enterprises, which is a subcontractor for PG&E, and Jose Hernandez, a Journeyman Line Clearance Tree Trimmer, were on their way to clear debris in the city of Manchester on January 7 while driving a 100′ bucket truck in poor weather conditions and very steep terrain. Castillo was killed in the accident.
Castillo was killed when the vehicle went off the road and down an embankment for reasons that are not known, which led to his death. At this time, there has not yet been a conclusion drawn from the investigation into the accident. The passenger, Hernandez, was involved in an accident that resulted in serious injuries and is currently being treated at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
“This is a tragic loss for the families of these men and to everyone who knew them, as their lives have been permanently altered; it’s just tragic and heartbreaking,” said Ralph Armstrong, who is the senior assistant business manager for IBEW 1245. “Their lives have been forever altered, and it’s just tragic and heartbreaking.”
There are five of Brother Castillo’s children left behind, including a pair of identical twins. Brother Castillo’s wife Leticia also survives him.
