Frank Nunez Obituary, Death – CHICAGO Illinois -US State Frank Nunez of Skokie Village in Illinois has died “This week has been challenging for the AFFI Family. “His family and the Brothers and Sisters of his local have our heartfelt condolences,” the union said in a statement. “This week has been difficult for the AFFI Family. In September, Nunez, a man from Crystal Lake who was 34 years old, began saying his final farewells from his hospital room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Nunez was being treated for cancer.
The discomfort Nunez felt in his left leg prompted him to make an appointment with a medical professional. Jill Edgeworth, who manages media relations for Northwestern Medicine, shared in 2019 that Nunez had been diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, an extremely uncommon form of cancer that affects soft tissues. He had treatment for his cancer that included chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, and he was successful in driving it into remission.
In 2021, the cancer returned to his left lung, and Edgeworth stated that Nunez participated in a variety of clinical trials in an attempt to find a treatment. Even while he was undergoing treatment, he never took any time off from his job as a firefighter with the Itasca Fire Protection District in DuPage County.
According to his coworkers, Nunez had an extraordinarily strong work ethic and was very passionate about his job as a fireman. 2014 was the year he got his first job, and four years later, in 2018, he joined the Itasca Fire Protection District.
