Helen Pruett Glasscock was a member of the Glasscock family. Her birthday is December 16th, and her parents were Tom Watson and Clara Federer Pruett. She was born on the 16th of December, 1934. The sixteenth of December was also her birthday. Her mother Frances Williams, her father Frances Williams, and her sister Betty Couey, along with her brother Carl Pruett, all left before she did. She was the only member of her family to have lived to old age. She is the only child that has ever been born into her family’s whole history. Helen was a kind and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family will always cherish the time they were able to spend together remembering Helen.
She leaves behind her husband of sixty years, Kenneth Glasscock; three daughters, Debra Kreps, Mary (David) Mayo, and Melanie Glasscock; six grandchildren, Maria Faulkner, Daniel Kreps, Thomas (Lauren) Kreps, Benjamin (Jena) Mayo, William (Jessica) Mayo, and Sarah (Nathan) Harris; twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one great great great grandchild; and one great great great great great She is also survived by her two brothers, Cecil (Myrna) Pruett and Chester (June) Pruett. Both of her brothers were married to June Pruett. June Pruett was the spouse of both of her brother’s during her lifetime. Her two brothers have each tied the wedding with a woman who has the month of June as their first or middle name. Helen began her professional life as an educator at Saint Bernard College in the fall of 1966, where she worked in the English department.
She remained employed at St. Bernard Preparatory School up to the time of her retirement in May of 2019, after which she went on to pursue other opportunities. She was a passionate educator who not only loved and cared for her pupils but also motivated them to achieve the very best that they were capable of achieving in their academic work. Her students’ academic accomplishments were much improved as a result of her teaching.
