Isaac Collins Jr. Obituary, Death – Isaac John Collins Jr., a retired employee of Sun Oil Isaac John Collins Jr., who resided in Millsboro and was also known by the names Ike and Johnny, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, in the same house in which he had been born. He was surrounded by his devoted family at the time of his passing. He had 84 years under his belt.
In 1956, he received his diploma from Millsboro High School and immediately began working for Sun Oil Company on tankers. Johnny started out as an apprentice in the engine room and eventually worked his way up to become the chief engineer.
In 1993, after a career spanning 38 years, he finally retired. During the course of his career, he traveled to every single place on the planet. Helen Jeannette Lingo Collins and Isaac John Collins, both of Johnny’s parents, passed away before he was born.
Roberta Meyer Collins, who was his high school sweetheart and has been his loving wife for 64 years, along with his two sons, Isaac John Collins III “Skip” and his wife Kim, and Robert J. In addition, he is the grandfather of four grandkids named Katie Lind (whose parents married Christopher), Shelly Coon (whose parents married Robert), Emily Miller (whose parents married Jacob), and Jacob Collins. Additionally, he is the proud grandfather of three great-grandchildren: Carter Matthew Lind, Robby Maeve Miller, and Isla Kate Coon, who is due in the month of February. His sister, Jan McIlvain, also resides on the property (Marvin).
Johnny’s favorite things to do were to spend time at the beach, on boats, fishing, hunting, and eating dinner with his family. Together with Roberta, he traveled extensively around the United States, Canada, Hawaii, and Europe, going on a number of cruises. He spent his entire life as a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. For their consistent and compassionate care, the family would like to express their gratitude to Delaware Hospice, in particular Josie, Together We Care Home Care, namely Ashley, Samantha, Heather, and Brandy, and Michelle.
On Thursday, January 26, individuals are welcome to visit the Watson Funeral Home located at 211 S. Washington St. in Millsboro between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.. After that, at 1:30 in the afternoon, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, which is located at 110 W. State St. in Millsboro. Following that, the burial will take place in the church cemetery located directly next door.
