Isaac Olivas Obituary, Death – After losing control of his motorbike and landing on the roadway on Wednesday morning in Randolph County on Interstate 85, a man from Lexington was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler, which caused his death. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a complaint of an automobile accident in the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 at Finch Farm Road in Randolph County at approximately 6 a.m. on Monday morning.
Officers discovered that Isaac Arnaldo Olivas, 29, of Lexington, was driving a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorbike when he suddenly slammed on the brakes, which caused the bike to tip over and toss Olivas onto the road. Olivas was then taken into custody for his role in the incident. Olivas was traveling in the same way as Joseph Lee Uphoff, 53, of Concord, who was driving a tractor-trailer manufactured by Freightliner in 2017. Olivas was in the road, and Uphoff was unable to avoid colliding with him.
Olivas was reportedly killed in the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. The 18-wheeler driver was not wounded in the crash, and he is not being prosecuted with anything related to the incident. Olivas’s quick braking forced him to lose control of the motorcycle, which is why the authorities are still investigating why it happened.
In the vicinity of Finch Farm Road on Interstate 85, the northbound lanes were limited to a single lane of traffic for approximately three hours while the investigation was being conducted. The last of the troopers left the site at 9:27 in the morning.
