Jimmie Suggs Obituary, Death – Jimmie Elvie June Bogle Suggs, who was known as Jene by her family and friends, died in Shreveport, Louisiana, on January 20, 2023. She was 69 years old. When she died, her daughter and grandchildren were all around her. Her late parents, Charles Lindbergh Bogle and Mary Lois James Morgan, brought her into the world on November 19, 1953, in Amarillo, Texas. Jimmie grew up in Salem, Oregon, with her three older siblings, Darlene, Jerry Lynn, and Charles. She married her first love, Larry Ozal Brinlee, in 1972, and they had a happy life together.
As a result of this marriage, she had one child, a son named Larry Ward Brinlee. After all the places they had to go for the military, they decided to make Fort Polk, Louisiana, their home. She remarried after a few years, and their second marriage led to the birth of a daughter named Autumn. In 1988, Jimmie and Autumn moved to East Prairie, Missouri. It was there that she met Tommy Lee Suggs for the second time and got married to him. In the winter of 2007, Jimmie and Tommy moved to Leesville, Louisiana, so they could be closer to their children and grandchildren. She recommitted her life to Christ, and the next day, Brother Jesse Buck baptized her at South Park Baptist Church. The thing happened on Oct. 20, 2013.
After her late husband Tommy died in 2016, she moved back to Oregon to live with and care for her father. She spent a lot of her time in Salem volunteering at places like homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and her personal favorite, a local nursing home where she took care of an old man named Mr. George. She did this job for a long time. This made her servant’s heart happy. Always remember what your mother told you: “Do what is right and good. Be kind and help those who need it. There is always room in the world for one more generous person.” Her favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 4:32, which says, “And be kind and sympathetic to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Her life was a living example of what that verse means.
Her husband, Tommy Lee Suggs, her father, Charles “Charlie” Lindbergh Bogle, her mother, Mary Lois Morgan, her stepfather, William “Bill” Joseph Morgan, her sister, Jerri Lynn Garrison, and her great-grandson, Tyler Lee Benson, all died before Jimmie. She is survived by her sister, Jerri Lynn Garrison. Amber Miller (Christopher) of East Prairie, Missouri and Katherine Champagne (Christopher) of Leesville, Louisiana are two daughters that Jimmie raised as if they were her own. Jimmie is survived by her son, Larry Brinlee (Misti) of Cottonport, Louisiana, her daughter, Autumn Davis of Slagle, Louisiana, and two daughters that she raised as if they were her own.
She is also survived by her grandchildren Heather Brinkley (Jeremay) of Simpson, Louisiana, Haylee Brinlee of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Hope Brinlee of Leesville, Louisiana; Peyton & Brett Dupre of Cottonport, Louisiana; Cryslen & Christen Foster of Slagle, Louisiana; Gaige & Hailey Gifford and Alison & Shooter Miller of East Prairie, Missouri; Madison & Cole Sanders, and Jacob, Aiden, &
She also has a sister, Darlene Downey, who lives in Salem, Oregon, and a brother, Charles Bogle, who lives in Sikeston, Missouri. She also has a lot of nieces and nephews who will all miss her.
As a memorial, there will be a celebration of her life at a later date. Instead of flowers, people can make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Louisiana Shriners Hospital for Children.
