Jo Wilson Obituary, Death – The news of Dr. Jo Wilson’s passing has left us in disbelief and we are overcome with sorrow. Jo had always been a strong and successful lady who was incredibly devoted to both her family and her career. She had a lot of enthusiasm for both of these things. Bill, Jo’s husband, took care of her while she fought dementia that she had been fighting for some time with his wife’s help. We have been following their story for a few months now, and we are aware that people all over the world have been impacted by the journey that they have been on. This is something that we are aware of. Bill and Jo are both wonderful people, but Bill has insisted from the beginning that Jo is the one in charge of everything. They never let a single day go by without making the other person smile and laugh.
In spite of the knowledge that dementia would cause their lives to alter, Bill did everything in his power to ensure that they continued to participate in at least some of the activities that they had previously enjoyed doing together. They would sit on the couch, munch popcorn, and hold hands while watching television; this was their version of sitting in the “back row” of a movie theater. Jo was Bill’s all-time favorite playmate, and she was also the object of his affection. There are going to be a lot of folks that miss having her around. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Bill and Jo for sharing their story with us and drawing attention to the difficulties that are experienced by people who are coping with dementia. We owe Bill and Jo an enormous amount of gratitude for doing what they did.
