Joe Sens Obituary, Death – We regret to inform you that Mr. Joe Sens, a previous principal at this school, died away earlier this morning. His passing comes as a shock to all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. We are doing what needs to be done, albeit with extremely heavy hearts due to the nature of the situation.
Mr. Sens has devoted the past 45 years of his life to serving our students and the community in a variety of capacities, including teaching science (1966–1979), serving as chair of the science department (1969–1979), serving as assistant principal (1979–1983), and serving as principal (1983–present). During this time, he has held the positions of principal (1983–present), assistant principal (1979–1983), and assistant principal (1979–1983). (1983-2011). The year 2016 marked Mr. Sens’s induction into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame as well as the receipt of the Honorary Patriot award. 2016 was the year in which he was awarded both of these prestigious accolades.
When Mr. Sens was the head of the school, he placed a significant amount of importance on the academic side of things and made sure to only hire teachers who possessed the most advanced credentials. In addition to improving the quality of education that is provided to students at Archbishop Carroll High School, increasing the number of honors classes that are provided, and incorporating advanced placement courses into the school’s curriculum, he also made certain that the institution preserved its Catholic identity.
According to what Mr. Sens said in 2016, the people he worked with and the clients he served throughout his time at Carroll are the aspects of his time there that he cherishes the most as a result. Mr. Sens put in a good amount of years at Carroll as an employee.
