John Nugent Death, Obituary – This evening, we were notified of the demise of our Honorary President, John Nugent, which was welcomed with a feeling of tremendous loss and grief on everyone’s part. Even though John had been unwell for the last few weeks, we all anticipated that he would soon be back to his regular pattern of taking frequent walks around Kilnafrehan. Even though John had been sick for the past few weeks, we all hoped that he would soon be back to his normal routine. Throughout his whole life, John was the driving force behind the success of Kilgobinet GAA. Members of John’s family are devoted members of the club. This includes John Jnr R.I.P.
as a player and mentor, Paula R.I.P. as a fan and player with St. Pats, Denise, Sharon, and Gillian as supporters, and John Sr R.I.P. as a player and mentor for St. Pats. Attending St. Patrick’s is a Nugent family tradition that is being carried on by Ava, Jack, and Luke Nugent, the offspring of the Nugent family. Tess washed, dried, and ironed the jerseys to get them ready for the next day’s game, which ensured that they were in good condition. The loss of John will be deeply felt by each and every member of the club, regardless of their age. Both John and Tess had a reputation for being eager to help others, whether it was a neighbor or someone they met at church or school.
Because of this, they have garnered a great deal of respect and appreciation in the Kilgobinet village where they reside. In point of fact, John was the kind of man who did not have a single opponent somewhere on the face of the earth. John had several hobbies and interests, including playing cards, drinking from his massive bottle of Guinness, and cheering for his favorite team, Kilgobinet. A loyal, trustworthy, and committed member of the Kilgobinet community in addition to being an exceptional brother, husband, father, and grandpa. A gentleman in every sense of the word. John, I hope you had a restful night. The members of the Kilgobinet GAA Club would like to extend their deepest condolences to Tess, Denise, Sharon, Gillian, John’s brothers, and sister, sons in laws, daughter in laws, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and extended relatives, as well as John’s many friends and neighbors. John was loved and will be missed by all
