Lin Brehmer Obituary, Death – Lin Brehmer of Chicago, Illinois, a Longtime WXRT Radio Broadcasting Host died from cancer which has left his wife, Sara Farr and his entire family in sadness. Lin Brehmer was a disc jockey and radio host at WXRT in Chicago. He died on January 22, 2023. Brehmer was the morning host on WXRT from 1991 to 2020, and she was the midday host from 2020 until 2022, when she took a break to get chemotherapy. Brehmer graduated from Colgate University in 1976. During a summer semester, he got his start in radio by filling in at WRCU-FM, which was run by students at the university. After his one-year contract at KTCZ-FM was up, Brehmer went back to Chicago’s WXRT to replace Terri Hemmert as the morning DJ. Brehmer was married to Sara Farr, whom he met at Colgate University.
Brehmer said on the air on July 12, 2022, that he had been fighting prostate cancer and would be leaving WXRT after July 15, 2022, so that he could get chemotherapy. In November and December 2022, he flew again for a few weeks. Brehmer died on January 22, 2023, and Terri Hemmert, who had worked with him for many years, told WXRT listeners that morning. The Chicago Cubs wrote “Lin Brehmer, 1954–2023” on the marquee sign at Wrigley Field on the day of his death to honor him. Rahm Emanuel, who used to be mayor of Chicago, sent out a tweet “The voice of Chicago was Lin Brehmer. His voice was one of a kind, and it was a great way to start the day. On his show, I talked about the idea for the Uptown music district. He is a big supporter of the city’s music scene and a good friend. On XRT, I’ll miss hearing his voice.
