Linell Grundman Obituary, death – The world has lost a warrior for justice who had a huge heart and whose sharp intellect and great generosity of spirit were the only attributes that could compare to them. This man has been lost to the world. She was born on January 6, 1952, and she died away on January 13, 2023. Linell Grundman’s birthday was January 6. The information that follows was provided by her daughter Mary: “The last time we saw my mum was last night when we said our goodbyes. My dad and I gave her a bear hug and sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” to her as she was departing. We did this while she was walking away from us. She left in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and friends, certain in the belief that everything would work out for the best for us. I have a complete understanding of how devastating and shocking this must be for all of the people who cared about her.
In the past, Mom has been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease, and at the beginning of this fall, she experienced a flare-up of the condition that is associated with the disease. She was brought to the hospital three weeks ago and fought for as long as she could; nonetheless, she remained valiant right up until the time of her departure last night. She fought for as long as she could.
A celebration of her life will take place the following weekend at St. Mary’s University in Leavenworth, Kansas, which she attended during her academic career. She will be laid to rest in Lansing, Michigan, the following weekend, surrounded by her loved ones, including her adored son Nathan, as well as her relatives. Both a memorial ceremony at St. Marks in Washington, District of Columbia, and a memorial service in Sandwich, Massachusetts, are scheduled to take place during the month of February.
As soon as those particulars have been settled upon in a more definitive manner, I will provide them to you. I would want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kindness and support at this challenging time. My mother was an amazing person, and I am very proud of the fact that throughout the course of her life, she was able to make a positive impact on the lives of so many other people and share so much love with others. You can rest assured that I did, beginning with the children she directed in The Wing Players, continuing with the friends she made while serving overseas, moving on to the communities she served in churches both near and far, and finally arriving at the found families she created wherever she went. Thank you for your understanding. Mom died away with the knowledge that she had gotten the most out of life and was loved by a large number of people. She also knew that she had lived her life to the fullest.”
