Mable Cooper Obituary, Death – Mable B. Cooper, who had been a resident at Homewood at Martinsburg and had previously resided in Altoona, passed away on Friday within the facility where she had been living ever since she came there. Prior to making the shift, Mable B. Cooper had been a resident of Altoona. She was 97 years old at the time of her death. She was the daughter of Gustav Erickson, who had gone away, and Mary Margaret (Norcross) Erickson, who had also passed away. Her father had died away before she was born. Both of her parents had died away at this point. It was in Wesleyville that she first exhibited her abilities to the public.
They held their wedding on April 29, 1949, in Wesleyville, which they had picked as the venue for the ceremony, and John F. Cooper was her groom. It was five days before she died away on the same day in 2011 that he passed away on January 5th, 2011. Those who have been spared include a daughter whose name is Sabrina Louise Cooper-Brickner and her husband, Robert, both of whom are from Altoona; two step grandchildren whose names are Violet and Cole Brickner; and two special caretakers whose names are Pam Steele and Kaylee Goldsworthy.
Prior to her departure, both of her brothers, Carl Erickson and George Parsons, as well as both of her sisters, Martha McFadden and Dorothy Tillich, had already gone. Throughout her whole life, Mable was a dedicated disciple of Jesus Christ and regularly attended services at the Altoona Restoration Church. During the course of her professional life, she worked for a number of different businesses, including Erie Transistor, Loungeray, and Tritex Sportswear, among others. During the time that she worked for the Erie civil defense agency, Mable was elected to serve as the organization’s president.
Her interests were crocheting, being together with her family and their dog named Oscar, and producing Facebook videos for her son-in-law dubbed “Mom’s Din Din.” Oscar was her dearest and most trusted friend, and she considered him a brother. A memorial ceremony will be conducted at the Altoona Restoration Church of God on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon. The church is situated at 911 North Third Street in Altoona. The ceremony will be presided over by Pastor Steve Brumbaugh, who will also serve in this role.
