Marvin Cogar Death, Obituary – Marvin Wayne Cogar, who resided in Webster Springs, Colorado, and was 64 years old at the time of his death on Saturday, January 14, 2023, died away at his home. On March 29, 1958, he was born in Buckhannon to his late parents, Ballard Jack and Patricia Ann Cogar. His parents have now passed away. His mother and father had both died away at this point. Marvin was a devoted Christian who attended services at the Jumbo Community Church. He was also a member of the church. In the past, he worked as a coal miner; he was a member of the Diana Volunteer Fire Department for more than 40 years and the Sugar Creek Sportsman Association Hunting Club;
he adored his cat; he loved to hunt, fish, play cards, and shoot pool with his friends Zack Cogar and Hunter Davis; and he appreciated the opportunity to volunteer his time to assist with the Webster County WoodChopping Festival. He passed away on December 15, 2018. In addition to his original parents, Marvin was preceded in death by both of his spouses, Gladys Cutlip Cogar and Michael and Jeffrey Gum, who were also step-sons. Marvin’s real parents also passed away. Marvin is survived by his brother Stephen Cogar; sisters Jane (Bill) Lengacher and Anita (Denver Stubbs) Hiley; step-son Mark Gum; step-daughter Lisa Clutter; 3 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-granddaughter; various nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a large number of extended family members and friends who are saddened by his passing. Marvin was born in November.
On the evening of Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM local time, friends and family of the decedent will have the opportunity to pay their respects to the departed at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs. On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 1:00 PM, Funeral Services will be place at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Gray officiating. Marvin will be laid to rest next to his mother and father in the Dave Cogar Sugar Creek Cemetery in Webster Springs. The cemetery is named after Dave Cogar. The Diana Volunteer Fire Department is going to be in charge of leading the funeral procession.
