Mary Mooney Obituary, Death – Mary was a well known face as a SZRA competitor & the longest standing Secretary of Taralga Rodeo Committee. She will be sadly missed. She was their sixth and final child in order of birth. In May of 1950, Rose Mary wed Alvin (Bud), the man she loved more than anyone else in the world. The birthplace of each of their children was Nebraska prior to the family’s relocation to Colorado in the early 1960s.
Dori (Bill) Fitzgerald, Bob (Versa) Mooney, Marlene (Martin) Poole, Rita (Ken) Chandler, and Debbie (Dave) Munter are her children, and they all reside in Colorado. Rose Mary is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren: Jenna Starling, Neotha Leslie, Shawna Shearer, Ashley DeKam, Christy McGinn, Katie Meirath Distad, Heather Kahler, Ben Rose’s parents, husband Bud, son John, and siblings Vic, Robert, Monica, and Mary as well as her sister Irene all passed away before she did.
Rose Mary was a warm and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all of her family members. She and Bud were responsible for the memorable fun of many large family gatherings. There was always a large quantity of ham, turkey, jello salad, macaroni salad, cranberry marshmallow salad, and baked beans. In addition, there were hamburgers. When Rose and Bud were younger, they lived in Elgin, Nebraska, with their young family and raised their children there.
When they spent their summers on “the river,” they would boat, play, and hang out with other families in summer cabins. As a result, they made a lot of friends during those summers. After moving to Colorado, Rose maintained an outside job for a significant portion of her adult life. She began her career at Sears and later moved on to Hewlett Packard, where she assisted software engineers during her time there. Rose and Bud made the most of their retirement years by traveling the United States in their various motorhomes and going camping in various locations.
The likes of Estes Park, California, Utah, Branson, New Mexico, and Arizona were some of their favorite vacation destinations. She traveled outside of the United States when she was younger, spending time in Mexico, Rome, and London. All three of these locations are located in other countries. Her ideal vacation destination was Hawaii. She liked living in Water Valley in Windsor, and she felt secure there. She devoted a significant portion of her life to activities such as gathering with friends and family, as well as playing card games and bowling on the Wii. The body was cremated once it was found. There is going to be no service provided at this time.
