Mary Tripp Death, Obituary – On January 15, Mary E. Tripp, who was 94 years old and originally from Tunkhannock, passed away at the residence of her daughter. She was born in East Lemon on July 18, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Arthur Shaw and Marion Stark Shaw. Both of her parents have since passed away. Both of her parents have since died away. Mary graduated from Tunkhannock High School in the same year that she attended the Moses Taylor School of Nursing, where she studied to become a registered nurse. Mary received her certification in the same year. In addition to that, she received her postgraduate credits from Keystone Junior College, where she also attended.
She was an active member of the Wyoming County American Red Cross chapter during her time in Wyoming. Mary was working at the Tyler Memorial Hospital for a number of years previous to her retirement from the Clark Summit State Hospital, where she had worked for a total of 15 years. Mary’s career at the Clark Summit State Hospital spanned a total of 15 years. Mary treasured the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren, as well as the time she was able to spend in her yard and with her cats. Her parents, as well as her sisters Jean Loomis and Ruth Davis, as well as her brothers Charles Shaw and Arthur Shaw, passed away before she did.
Ruth Davis and Charles Shaw also predeceased her. Her grandparents were also taken from this world before she was. She is survived by her children, Melissa Alsop and her husband Frank of Rhode Island, Laurie Miller and her husband Brett of Tunkhannock, and Jennifer Frankevich of Dallas, as well as her grandchildren Mary Miller, Matthew Miller and his wife Harley, Grace Miller, Cody Alsop, Justin Alsop, and Joshua Frankevich. Melissa Alsop and her husband Frank live in Rhode Island. Laurie Miller and her husband Brett live in Tunkhannock. In addition, she is survived by her brother Edward Shaw and wife Lois, both of North Carolina, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She passed away on April 15, 2019.
Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, which can be found at 4 Church Street in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, will serve as the venue for the funeral services that will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 10:30 am. These services will be held in memory of a loved one who passed away. On Friday, January 20, there will be a viewing held from six in evening until eight o’clock in the evening at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. The funeral home is located at 123 West Tioga Street. The interment will take place at the Starkville Cemetery in Tunkhannock as the location has been selected.
