Merlin Riley Death, Obituary – Merlin Eugene Riley, Jr., who had reached the age of 72 when he passed away on January 15th, 2023 at the HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois, was pronounced dead at that location. He believed the town of Cowden, which is located in the state of Illinois, to be his permanent home. In December of 1967, he wed Debra Bishop, and the happy pair had the good fortune to have a marriage that lasted 49 years till she died away on September 21, 2017. He is survived by his daughter Lori Jean Riley, who resides in Sigel; his son Troy Riley, who resides in Cowden; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eric Riley and Michael Riley; two sisters, Lola Marie Walker and Trisha Irene West; his stepsister Alta Leona (Jerry-Leon), who resides in Cowden; and two nephews, Jerry Lee Clutter and Cory J. Clutter. He was predeceased by his son Troy Riley Mary, who was his wife, who passed away before he did.
Mary, who was his wife, died before he did. On September 15, 2018, he took his final breath and left this world behind him forever. Both of his son Michael Shannon Riley’s parents had already passed away before he was born, as had his own son Michael Shannon Riley before he was born. In this particular scenario, he was not the only person who had passed away before his wife.
Merlin’s family has made the decision to accept his request that there be no memorial service held in his honor because they want to respect his desires. This is the outcome that Merlin would have favored.
