Michael Freeberg Obituary, Death – With deep shock and sadness, we must inform you of Michael J. Freeberg’s passing. He was a loyal husband, an active member of the Kiwanis club, a former police captain, a proud Navy veteran, an irrepressible practical joker, a reliable friend, and the inspiration for a whole generation of MVPD’s hardest working workers. Sadly, Mike passed away on January 21, 2023. Because of his sickness, he had been feeling bad for a long time.
While most people are naturally curious with the law enforcement system from a young age, Mike was not one of them. He got his start in the police department as a Palo Alto reserve officer and then worked as a campus cop for a semester at Foothill College. He worked on many high-profile cases at Mountain View and earned lifelong friends thanks to his skill and willingness to take on any task. As a member of the Detective Bureau, he was involved in many high-profile investigations and formed lifelong relationships while there.
Given Mike’s consistent performance, he was often considered for promotions as he moved through the company’s ranks. His highest moral goal was making sure that those who had been harmed received justice. After retiring in 2007, Mike and his wife enjoyed going on vacation, volunteering with the Kiwanis Club, and spending time with their grandchildren. All of this was possible because Mike retired early in 2007. A simple statement of “we would miss him very much” is not enough consolation. The Freeberg family has our heartfelt sympathies at this difficult time.
