Michael Stanley Obituary, Death – The man who was killed in a fire at an apartment building in Lakewood on Wednesday and was identified by the medical examiner for Pierce County on Thursday has been determined to have been 76 years old.
According to a news release that was issued by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday, Michael Stanley, who was a resident of Lakewood, passed away as a result of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. The office determined that the man died as a result of an accidental circumstance.
At first, the fire officials working for West Pierce Fire & Rescue stated that the blaze was contained to only Stanley’s apartment. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding what started the fire. On Saturday, a representative for the fire department did not have any immediate information to share regarding an update to the investigation into the fire.
At approximately 11:40 in the morning, firefighters were sent to the scene of a fire that was located in the 12900 block of Lincoln Avenue Southwest. The blaze was quickly doused with water and brought under control. At 11:55 a.m., according to the officials, the firefighters entered the structure, which only had one level, and extinguished the flames. The damage was limited to the one apartment. Other apartments were not affected.
