After 59 years, Reynolds was still going strong. The Tribal Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of the Proach Band of Creek Indians, Stephanie Bryan, issued the following statement in response to Reynolds’ passing:
“It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that our Chief of Police, Mike Reynolds, passed away today after a heart attack. I will always remember him fondly. It came as a complete surprise. Mike was a well-respected law enforcement officer who had served the community for over 35 years, during which time he had assisted and protected countless individuals. In the beginning of his career, he served in the United States Army as a member of the military police force. After completing his time in the military, Mike found employment with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department, where he made rapid advancements in his position.
Mike was given the opportunity to serve as the Chief of Police for the City of Chickasaw, and he took advantage of this position by developing and implementing a community-oriented approach to law enforcement that has since served as a template for other jurisdictions. In 2016, Mike was promoted to the position of Chief of Police for the Tribe, and as part of his new role, he brought his dedication to community-based law enforcement to our very own Poarch community.
During the period that Mike was stationed at Poarch, he put forth a lot of effort to ensure that our community was secure, and he established solid relationships with a large number of Tribal members as well as our neighbors. After receiving the news that Mike had passed away, law enforcement officers from Mobile County and Baldwin County collaborated to transport his body from the hospital to a funeral home located in Mobile County. Mike had dedicated his entire life to serving his community as a law enforcement officer.
Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family as well as many of his fellow law enforcement colleagues who knew and worked with Mike. The particulars of Mike’s funeral arrangements will be discussed publicly as soon as they are known to be finalized.” This is a developing story, and if more information becomes available, we will put it here as it becomes available.
