Olly is a songwriter and television host. He finished second in the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009 and was signed to RCA Records and Sony Music in the UK, and Columbia Records in the US. Murs released his self-titled debut album in 2010, which debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and was certified double platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).
The smash singles “Please Don’t Let Me Go” and “Thinking of Me” were included on the album. The following year, he released his second studio album, In Case You Didn’t Know, which entered the charts at number one and resulted in two number-one singles with “Heart Skips a Beat” and “Dance with Me Tonight”.
Murs released his third studio album, Right Place Right Time, in 2012, and six songs from it, the first of which, “Troublemaker,” became his fourth number one single. Murs had sold over 10 million records globally as of December 2014.
Murs stated in 2011 that he would return to The X Factor to co-host its spin-off show The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack. Murs and Caroline Flack were reunited in 2015 to replace Dermot O’Leary as co-presenters of The X Factor for series 12. Murs has been a coach on The Voice UK since 2018.
