Owen Marsh Death, Obituary – The news that Sergeant Owen Marsh, our good friend and former coworker, had gone away in the afternoon of January 6th, 2023 at his home in Derbyshire, England, was very painful to all of us. He had been sick for quite some time. This came as a great shock to everyone, despite the fact that Owen had been dealing with certain health issues. Before joining the Bermuda Police in April 1976, Owen served as a cadet and then as a constable for the Newport Borough Police from 1962 until 1965. Owen was born and raised in Newport, which is located in Wales. Prior to joining the Bermuda Police, Owen worked for the Newport Borough Police.
Before relocating to Bermuda, he worked as a police officer in the Newport Borough. After he had finished Basic Training Course #9, his first assignment was for a little over a year in the Eastern Division (St. George’s). After that, for the first and only time in his 30-year career with the Bermuda Police, he was moved to Operatins, where he began working at the Police garage. This was the only transfer he had received throughout his stint with the force. During that time, he was a member of the Bermuda Police and served in that capacity. Owen realized that he had found his calling in life!
After Owen’s time working as a competent mechanic with Sgt. Keith Pratt came to an end in the year 1990, he was given the opportunity to advance his career and was given the post of Sergeant in command of the Garage. At that point in time, Keith had already handed in his resignation. During his time off, Owen would assist his fellow law enforcement personnel, in especially those of us who worked in the Traffic Division, with the upkeep of our automobiles and motorcycles. Even the vehicles with the longest service histories could count on him to keep them running smoothly because to his exceptional maintenance skills. He enrolled in a number of mechanics classes in a variety of different nations in order to maintain and enhance the level of his expertise.
Neil, Tammy, and Julian were the children that Owen and his first wife were blessed with. Owen remarried Julie in 1985, and the couple went on to have two sons: Hugo and Tristan. Hugo and Tristan are now adults. Owen has two stepsons, and their names are Hugo and Tristan. Owen was presented with the Colonial Police Long Service and Good Conduct medal in 1985. He continued to serve with the Colonial Police until February 1998, at which point he resigned after having done so for a combined 31 years.
