Richard Brown Obituary, Death – Revered member of the Harrisonville Fire company, Richard Brown has sadly passed away. Richard Brown was a member of the Harrisonville Fire Company for a very long time and for his whole life. He had been a member the entire time. It is with great regret that the Harrisonville Fire Company must inform everyone that Mr. Brown has died away. Because of how well Mr. Brown got along with everyone, his colleagues started nicknamed him “Brownie.” It was impossible to catch him without a smile on his face, and he was always happy to tell a story or two.
Everyone in the department is going to miss his presence very much, as well as the lovable traits that he brought to the position that he was responsible for. Over the period of seven decades, Richard gave a significant amount of effort to the company, working diligently on both the operational and executive levels of the organization. In January of 1946, he moved to South Harrison Township, and the following year, in 1953, he joined our force as a member of the police department. In addition to holding the position of Assistant Chief for a number of years prior to his promotion to Chief of the Department in 1998, he also served as Chief of the Department in 1998.
He is shown in a mural that was just finished and can be seen on the outside of the fire station. It names him as one of the founding members of the team that was responsible for establishing the corporation. When he dies away, we ask that you remember to keep the people he leaves behind in your thoughts and prayers. Those who had the opportunity to collaborate with him will always feel grateful when they think back on his contributions and the legacy he has left behind. He will be remembered fondly, but the work he left behind will live on in perpetuity.
Rest Easy Brownie.
