Rick Grant Obituary, Death – Rick Grant, who was 83 years old and a resident of Ohio, passed away on January 7, 2022. Rick Grant was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 10, 1939. His parents, Richard Grant, Jr. and Helen (King) Grant, Jr., passed away before Rick’s birth. After completing his education at Shattuck School in Faribault, Minnesota in 1957, he went on to study at Carnegie Mellon University before entering the military and serving in the United States Army. Rick departed from Reynolds and Reynolds as Vice President of the International Division after having a fulfilling career there and making many friends along the way.
Rick took pleasure in his affiliation with The Miami Valley Hunt and Polo Club, The Moraine Country Club, and The Buz Fuz Club, as well as the camaraderie he shared with his friends there. He spent each of his 84 summers in Michigan at Higgins Lake, where he delighted in spending time with his family and friends, sailing vintage wooden boats, and engaging in fiercely competitive games of skill and chance.
Rick was a man of few words, but they were always significant, and he was thoughtful and generous. Rick was humble and unpretentious. His intelligence was as acute as his wit, which was also rather sharp. He had a passion for reading, and the breadth and depth of his knowledge made him an excellent thinker, debater, mentor, and leader. He tackled the Sunday New York Times crossword problem with self-assurance using an ink pen.
Rick was the type of person who discreetly supported charitable causes while avoiding the limelight. He did this while still looking out for his personal interests and the interests of his family. He maintained a steady demeanor and led a life free of excitement. Rick was a worry-free man who never uttered a single complaint. He was a passionate vehicle collector who held the belief that magnificent machines should be driven and enjoyed by their owners.
Throughout his entire life, he was an enthusiastic competitor in several forms of motorsport, most notably racing for vintage automobiles. All of Rick’s family members found great solace in his consistent presence and his unobtrusive love through difficult times. His wife of 58 years, Mimi; his daughter, Liz (Charlie) Schroeder; his grandchildren, Kingsley (Rachael) Schroeder and Thiele Schroeder; and his great-grandson, Dewey Schroeder, are among those who are left behind after his passing.
