Rita Giangregorio Death, Obituary – Rita Giangregorio of Revere, Massachusetts, has passed away untimely and unexpectedly leaving friends, loved ones, family and the entire community heartbroken and in grievance. Her husband was Robert E. Withstandley, who passed away in June of 2018, after a marriage to Rita that lasted 65 years and ended with his death. Rita was predeceased in death by her sister Mary Mattimore, as well as her brothers Paul K. and Monsignor William F. Mattimore, in addition to her parents and her husband. Mary was also Rita’s only living sibling at the time of her death.
After graduating from Ascension High School, Rita went on to work for both the United States Steel Corporation and Raytheon Technologies. She began her careers shortly after getting her diploma from Ascension. Both Rita’s religious practice and the neighborhood in which she lived were very important to her. She volunteered her time at St. Vincent Hospital for many years and also served in the capacity of a religious educator there during that time.
Along with that, Rita managed to keep her friendships with folks from Ascension Parish alive and well over the course of her life. In addition to her love of gardening, traveling to new places, and quality time spent with her family, Rita was well-known for her unflinching commitment and loyalty to those closest to her. She has a sizable number of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews that she is leaving behind.
Rita’s cousin Tom Stone would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his wife Susan, as well as to Jill Bakis and her husband Bryan, as well as to Sue Stone and her late husband John Stone, who were all there for her, for the consistent assistance they have provided over the past few years. He would also like to thank Jill Bakis and her husband Bryan for their support.
