Sidney Box Death, Obituary- EARLEY, UK- Sidney Box aka Donald ‘Don’ missing from Reading has been found dead in Earley garden, Thames Valley Police says. The 93-year-old man identified as Sidney Box was reported missing from his home in Reading for three days. He was recently diagnosed with dementia, and was last seen at around 8.20pm on Thursday evening in Silverdale Road, Earley.
Thames Valley Police released a statement on Monday, January 9, 2022, confirming that Sidney Box has died. The statement reads – “Officers looking for missing man Sidney Box, 93, discovered a cadaver this afternoon. Although no formal identification has been made, we believe this is Sidney.
His next of kin have been notified and are being assisted during this difficult time.
The death is being investigated as unexplained but not suspicious, and a file for the coroner will be produced.
“Our search for Sidney has been underway for four days, with volunteers from Berkshire Lowland Search & Rescue and the local community supporting in our search,” said Superintendent Andrew Cranidge, LPA Commander for Bracknell & Wokingham.
Unfortunately, as a result of these searches, a man’s body was discovered this afternoon in an Earley garden. “I’d want to express my gratitude to everyone who has offered assistance in this quest over the last four days.”
“I know Sidney’s family is extremely appreciative to everyone who has helped.”
“We would ask, on their behalf, that their privacy be respected at what will be an extraordinarily difficult moment for them,” said Thames Valley Police.”
