I would like to let my friends, family, and coworkers know that the next weekend, May 19–21, I will be participating in a charity bike ride across Scotland with 55 other individuals to collect money for four different charitable organizations. The annual Coast to Coast bike journey is currently in its ninth year, and I will be participating in it for the eighth time this year. Over the course of the past eight years, we have contributed more than one million pounds to various charitable organizations. In the long run, these money are providing actual assistance to those who are in need.
This year’s ride will begin at Gretna Green, which is located on the coast of southern Scotland, and will end in Aberdeen, which is over 230 mountainous miles to the north. The trip will take three days to complete. There will be challenging ascents, exhaustion, and saddle sores, in addition to the unpredictability of the weather in Scotland. This year, funds will be distributed proportionally among four organizations who have a pressing requirement for them. Motor Neurone Disease Scotland (MND Scotland) is a charity that aids people who have the terrible disease motor neuron condition, which destroys the neurological system and, as a consequence, the muscles that keep us alive and active. MND Scotland also finances research into the disease. Because of this illness, our good buddy Ian Bowen’s life was cut tragically short.
CREW assists children and people in vulnerable situations in making more informed decisions. Over 45,000 people in Scotland are counseled by CREW about drugs and alcohol on an annual basis in order to assist them in making more informed decisions. The Glasgow Disabled Scouts are responsible for the care of around 70 young people who suffer from a variety of distinct physical impairments. They meet together on Monday nights throughout the entire year, and in addition, they host weekend camps and a camp during the summer. They are currently working to raise £500,000 so that they can replace and upgrade their outdoor respite facility for children who have special needs in Glasgow and central Scotland. If they are successful in their fundraising efforts, they will be able to do this.
Roxburghe House: Our good friend and fellow Coast to Coast rider, Adrian Shaw, passed away in June of last year due to cancer. During the latter weeks of his life, he received excellent care at Roxburghe House, which provided both him and his family with a lot of emotional and practical assistance. Your gifts make a great difference. They are matched by BP, and we use Virgin Money, which is a nonprofit organization that does not charge fundraisers or their sponsors to use their website in order to conduct online fundraising activities.
