Terry James Death, Obituary – Terry James, a Detroit, Michigan ‘Dj’ Disc jockey, radio personality and Underground Mafia Productions star has died reportedly. Details surrounding Terry James’s cause of death is yet to be learned at the time of this publication. In 1992, Terry James first became familiar with the sounds of the underground in Detroit and Chicago. Richie Hawtin’s minimal sounds were the catalyst that enabled him to make the life-altering switch from metal to dance music.
In the years that followed, he developed a strong interest in and was profoundly influenced by the sounds that were coming out of Detroit at the time. As a result of this, he started collecting and playing vinyl records, studying the masters, and becoming an expert in the trade of playing and organizing events.
In the year 2000, he uprooted his life and moved to San Diego in order to put more of his energy into his mixing gigs and his promotion. And spreading the techno sound that came out of Detroit in Southern California. His Underground Mafia and Next Step productions events have featured performances from artists such as Juan Atkins, Frankie Bones, Woody McBride, Tim Baker, Crystal Method, Octave One, DJ Assault, Asher Perkins, Detroit Techno Militia, Terrence Parker, K.Hand, Terrence Dixon, Speedy J, and John Acquaviva, in addition to a large number of other local SoCal supper stars.
His long-term goals were continue to promote his Eternal event, which is currently in its tenth year of production, and to maintain the vitality of the underground in a world where EDM stands for “Every Day Music.”
