Velma Souers Death, Obituary – Velma F. Souers, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Parkview Hospital on Randalia in Fort Wayne. She was a resident of Liberty Township, which is located in Wells County, Indiana. Velma Jones’s parents, Virgil and Audra (Bardsley), gave birth to her on November 24, 1936, in Liberty Township, which is located in Wells county. She received her diploma from Warren High School in 1954, and on March 21, 1954, she tied the knot with Sebert L. Souers in the town of Warren. She began her career in the restaurant industry when she was a teenager, first at Heritage Pointe and later at Schultz CafĂ©.
Later on, she would work as a cook at Liberty Township, then at Southern Wells once the two businesses were merged, and last at Caylor Nickel as the business account manager. Before Velma retired in May of 2002, she had served as the office manager at Sun Control Center for a total of ten years. In addition to that, she was a founding member of both the Blackford-Wells Genealogical Society and the Captain William Wells Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Velma was an organist at the Warren First Baptist Church, where she had been a member for the majority of her 71 years as a churchgoer.
Velma was an amazing historian in her own right. She found enjoyment in crossword puzzles, crocheting, and using Facebook to stay connected with friends and family. On the farm, she helped out alongside her family. Velma felt that the time she spent camping with Sebert was among the most memorable experiences of her life.
Velma’s parents, Virgil and Audra Jones, as well as her husband, Sebert Souers, daughter, Marsha Werling, sister, Naomi Martin, and brothers, Harold Jones, and Dean Jones, passed away before she did.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children, Emily (Bob) Bothast of Keystone, Indiana, and Bruce Souers of Warren, Indiana, as well as her grandchildren, Brad (Elizabeth) Bothast of Uniondale, Indiana, Sarah (fiancee Gradey Hicks) Bothast of Winona Lake, Indiana, and Nathan (Amanda) Helms of Calera, Alabama, and great-grandchildren, Hannah Helms, Riley Helms, and
On Friday, January 20, 2023, from 3 pm to 8 pm and again on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10 am to 11 am, friends and family are welcome to congregate at the First Baptist Church located at 727 N. Wayne St. in Warren, IN 46792 to share stories and memories of the deceased during these times. On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11 am, the First Baptist Church will be the location of the funeral service, and Pastor Rusty Strickler will preside over the ceremony. After the funeral, the interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Warren, Indiana.
